June 11th: Legal Tender + Supports

Legal Tender is based around Ian and Moira Campbell. They have been performing their eclectic mix of rural folk covers and originals around New Zealand for more years than they care to remember.

They have collaborated with many other Kiwi musicians including various members of the Hamilton County Bluegrass Band, Bullfrog Rata, The Andrew London Trio, Carylann and many others. They feature regularly at various country/folk festivals and concerts around New Zealand. With their blend of alternate rural/folk covers and their own down-home original songs they have entertained audiences from the Bay of Islands to the Deep south. Sensitive arrangements of various Americana artists like Guy Clarke, Hank Williams, Lori Mckenna are rendered with earthy integrity and powerful vocal harmonies.

Glenn Barclay

Glenn came originally from Auckland but has lived in Wellington most of his life. He moved to Porirua in 2020.

He has been playing guitar (and mandolin) more years than he cares to remember but has only played in public sporadically. He has been in a couple of bands over the years but is now enjoying learning to play on his own. Musical tastes tend to Americana and his own playing (and song writing) falls loosely into the American folk, blues and country sound.

John and Susan Sutherland

John, known throughout the New Zealand Folk Scene, has been playing and singing for more than 50 years.

Susan has always loved to sing and has a beautiful, clear voice that will draw you in.

They have gone down extremely well every time they have performed for us, They have a deep connection to our club, to the point that John built the stage on which everyone performs. Their unique treatment of songs, provides a rich experience as, together, they sing of love, life and loss with conviction, musicianship, and sweet harmonies.

Nikki Jacobsen

Nikki Grew up around the Country Music scene in New Zealand, in the 1970's when she began singing and learning the guitar from the age of 7.

Inspired by her parents' love for the genre and their own band which played around the RSA and Cossie clubs, Nikki began singing professionally at the Arizona bar in Wellington City for a number of years in the 90's.

Her love of Country developed due to the story-telling nature of the lyrics and the relatability of the songs. Her inspirations come mainly from the likes of Dolly Parton, Garth Brooks and other traditional artists such as Tanya Tucker and Loretta Lynn. A notable and emotional moment in Nikki's life recently was having the opportunity to visit the gravesite of Johnny and June Carter Cash in Nashville, Tennessee.
