2023-04-11: President’s Patter

Greetings all.

A wonderful turnout last month for our April club night!

Our advertised main act Black Eyed Susie was sadly forced to cancel at the midnight hour due to illness.

Our grateful thanks must go to the Raven Maven Duo ,Cindy Muggeridge and Marian Carter along with their guest Neil Billington, one of NZ's leading exponents of the harmonica who stepped in at extremely short notice.

It was a night full of camaraderie and surprises .

Tim Thorpe’s band ‘The Sentimental Blokes ‘ with Vince Cabrera and Irwin Navarro opened the evening. One of Tim’s songs had been especially written to welcome the birth of a new grandaughter... was very moving. Congratulations on becoming a grandad, Tim. ????

Founder of our Club and ex President ,Kevin Meehan followed. We reminisced about the days Scotsman Bill Wallace would accompany on his harmonica for a tune. Neil Billington "came to the party" and joined in with Kevin, a special touch.

R.I.P Bill ,fondly remembered by many at Mainly Acoustic.

The Godwits were great energies and we look forward to hearing them at the club again!

The Raven Mavens and Neil had us begging for more, and the night just seemed to go way too fast .

Our May concert looks just as exciting.

Susie and Ramon (Black Eyed Susie) will support, after missing out last month and we know this will make disappointed fans very happy.

Matthew Dower is back again with unsung tales of Aotearoa, country blues and folk. A talented singer/ songwriter.

Phil Hope and Jo Sheffield (Hope and the Hobo) also talented songwriter/musicians are also joining us.

Vikki Clayton and Gilly Darby "We Wayward Divas" are filling the main spot with promises of fun and frolics as well as wonderful music.

We look forward to seeing you there under the twinkling lights and the ambience of the open fire.

Stay warm!

Cheers
Fiona
