Tuesday Apr 11th 2023: Raven Mavens + Supports

The Raven Mavens duo features singer songwriter Cindy Muggeridge, queen of the boogie-woogie and blues on piano and songstress Marian Carter on soulful saxophone and clarinet. They have performed for us at various times, as a duo and as a quartette. Out club night will present the duo version. Our original headliners, Black Eyed Susie have contracted COVID and will be out of commission for the week.

The Raven Mavens, fun-loving, versatile performers will delight you with their playing and singing and the sweet bluesy harmonies they have been delivering to audiences up and down the country since 2011.

Marian Price-Carter and Cindy Muggeridge will be joined by bluesharp-meister Neil Billington.

The Godwits

Vic Manuel and Lis Whyte write songs about life, love and loss and have fun performing together and with friends.

Their twin Martin guitars and close harmonies are a real delight, and their songs are memorable and full of charm. They have performed at a number of Wellington venues and are planning their first South Island tour.

The Sentimental Blokes

The Sentimental Blokes are Tim Thorpe (keyboards/vocals), Vince Cabrera (bass/lead guitar) and Irwin Navarro (drums). Tim and Vince are well known to Mainly Acoustic having performed there separately or together over a number of years. Irwin joined Tim and Vince in 2022 when the band name was born.

The band’s style of music is best described as easy listening, including elements of jazz, pop and funk. Sentimental Blokes was one of the acts that performed at the Night for Napier held at Whirinaki Whare Taonga in March.
