President’s Patter, Feb. 2023

Greetings all. What a month February turned out to be!

Cyclone Gabrielle certainly made her presence felt in many ways.

Devastation sadly for so many and our hearts go out to all affected.

Several of our musicians who were to perform at our first concert of this year were unable to get to U.H as flights and ferries cancelled the day before our advertised concert on Valentine’s Day .

This was the very day before the concert so rescheduling was the best option.

Sadly, one of our support acts, Jane Cameron, a highly acclaimed folk singer from Australia, had left our shores by the time of our rescheduled date.

Peter Quinn stepped up at short notice and we thank him for that. He had performed for us in December in  our open mic  and there had been requests to hear him again. He sang up a storm (and I don’t mean the cyclone variety!)

‘No Man’s Heath’ (Tom Kane) followed with gentle ,sensitive vocals and intricate finger picking guitar and our third support act ‘Wandering Thyme‘ delighted us with more variety, folk Americana flavour.

Our headline act ‘Krissy Jackson Duo’  was an experience extraordinaire indeed .
Peter on Keyboard and fiddling and vocals by Krissy .

Their skill and great energy ,enjoyed by all and a special treat when Krissy invited Cara from Wandering Thyme to join her on stage  for a fiddle duo performance of ‘Two Rivers‘  which was stunning .

A very memorable evening and our audience calling out for more more more!

Please check our Facebook page …some photos and also some video clips with more coming.

The next club night is just before St Patrick’s day .

A great reason to celebrate Irish music  ☘️ .

Even our main act SHAN  has promised a favourite Irish song. I can’t wait!

Looking forward to seeing you on Tuesday, the 14th of March.

Cheers
Fiona
